Saints Take Two More on Thursday

The Saint Scholastica Saints baseball team won two more games on Thursday. The Saints took down Grinnell College (4-3) by a score of 7-2 in the opener. In this first game the Saints were able to take a 3-2 lead in the fifth inning on a two-run single by Ryan Bruns. The Saints were led on the mound by first-year transfer Ben Grams, from Duluth, who allowed one earned run on six hits while striking out six on his way to picking up the win.

In the Saints second game of the day they took on Westminster College (6-1). Westminster entered the game undefeated but were shut down by a masterful pitching performance by Joey Calaguire. Calaguire pitched a two-hitter while striking out nine with zero walks. During one stretch Calaguire was able to set down 18 straight Westminster batters. At the plate, Tom Simonson went 3-5 with two RBIs, while Ryan Bruns, D.J. Lahti, and Jake Eiler added two hits each. The final score from Fort Pierce, Fl was 5-0. With the win the Saints ran their record to (11-2)
