Saints Stay Hot, Sweep Westminster

The Saint Scholastica Saints Baseball team continued their hot start by sweeping the Westminster College Titans to kick off their Florida schedule. The Saints moved to 6-0 on the heels of two extra-inning victories.

In game one, Senior Luke Olin proved to be the hero with an RBI single in the top of the ninth that scored Blake Eller with the winning run in the 6-5 victory. The Saints were able to force the game into extra's when Mike Lewis scored in the seventh inning on a wild pitch. Freshman Adian Kummet moved to 2-0 on the season by throwing three innings in relief of Mark Erickson. For the game, Olin had three hits and two RBIs while Eller and Junior Brandon Swartz each added two hits for the Saints.

The Saints took the second game of the doubleheader by the score of 7-6 after Luke Olin led off the bottom of the ninth inning with a triple and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Daryl Fuchihara. Eric Hagen picked up his first win of the season by giving up one run on four hits in 4 2/3 innings of relief of Ben Grams. Blake Eller was an offensive star for CSS by going 4-5 with five stolen bases while Olin was 2-3 with three runs scored.
