Saints Announce 2005 Award Winners

The 2005 Saint Scholastica Saints baseball team was honored during the Annual Hall of Fame and Awards Dinner which took place during Alumni Weekend. During 2005 the Saints finished the season 36-7 and advaned to the NCAA Tournament for the second time in school history. The team also finished the season ranked 14th in the nation in NCAA Division III.

Nyquist and Bjerken Imortalized as Hall of Famers

The highlight of the 2005 fall season for the Saint Scholastica Saints baseball team was undoubtedly the annual Alumni Weekend during which Brett Nyquist, from Duluth Central High School, and Nick Bjerken, from North St. Paul High School, were inducted into the Saint Scholastica Saints Baseball Hall of Fame.


Brett Nyquist graduated from Saint Scholastica in 2002 and is the Saints all-time leader in ERA (2.06) and is third in both career strikeouts and wins. Nyquist was drafted in the 13th round of the 2002 Major League Baseball draft by the Montreal Expos. Brett has been invited to attend the Washington Nationals minor league spring training next spring.


Nick Bjerken is a 2003 graduate of Saint Scholastica and is currently in the top ten in eleven different pitching and hitting categories including wins (2nd), innings pitched (4th), hits (8th), and RBIs (8th). Bjerken was an All-American in 2003.

Saints Fall League Comes to a Close

The Saint Scholastica Saints baseball team wrapped up their fall baseball practice in early October with the annual Championship Series of the Saints Fall League (SFL). The 2005 SFL Championship was brought home, once again, by Black.

The Saints will now hunker down into their schooling for the winter while keeping in shape by hitting the weights or running on the track. The Saints will have high expectations entering into the 2006 spring season.
