St. Scholastica Saints Baseball: Saints Preparing For NCAA Tournament

The Saint Scholastica Saints baseball team has been busy this week preparing for their second appearance in the NCAA Division III Baseball Tournament. The Saints will open the 2005 Tournament in Whitewater, Wisconsin in the Whitewater Regional against the #1 seeded University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. The game is scheduled to start at 2:30 PM on Thursday, May 19th following the #3/#4 match-up, which pits the #2 seeded University of Wisconsin-Whitewater against the #3 seeded University of St. Thomas.

There is no doubt that the Saints will face an up hill battle if they plan on winning the Regional tournament to advance to the Division III World Series, according to the most recent ABCA NCAA Division III Poll the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater enters the tournament ranked #1 in the nation, the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point will face the Saints as the #10 team in the nation, and the University of St. Thomas will enter the tournament ranked at #19 nationally. Saint Scholastica will enter tournament play as the lowest ranked team in their regional at #26 nationally. The Saints will; however, enter the tournament with the least number of loses among the four teams in the Whitewater Regional. I also don't believe that it would come as much of a shock if the Saints were able to suprise a couple of teams in the regional tournament and ended up advancing on to the 2005 NCAA Division III World Series!
