Saints Claim 9th Shutout By Blanking Storm

The Saint Scholastica Saints Baseball team, led by junior transfer Ben Grams, shutout the Crown College Storm Friday afternoon at Wade Stadium in Duluth. Grams moved his record to 4-0 on the season with only a 0.65 ERA on the heels of the Saints 19-0 victory over the Storm.

At the plate, the Saints were led by D.J. Lahti, Daryl Fuchihara, and Ryan Bruns who each had two hits. Lahti had a triple and an RBI, Fuchihara had a triple, a homerun, and 3 RBIs, while Bruns had a double and 2 RBIs.

With the victory the Saints extended their winning streak to 20 straight games and now stand at 23-2 overall, and 11-0 in the UMAC. The Saints also moved to within four shutouts of the NCAA Division III record of 13 shutouts on the season, set in 1999 by both Saint Scholastica and the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. The Crown College Storm fell to 5-20 overall and 3-8 in the UMAC.

The two teams will meet again today at noon for a double header at Wade Stadium in Duluth.
